The Working Committee Meeting of the Handlooms Handicraft Exporters Welfare Association (HHEWA – All India) was successfully conducted on 12 September 2026. The meeting focused on strengthening the organisation, supporting exporters and artisans, resolving industry issues, and contributing towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Key Decisions & Announcements
1. New Noida HHEWA Board Announced
A new Noida HHEWA Board was formally announced with a team of 21 members, who will work together for the promotion and development of the export industry in the region.
2. Shri Suresh Thakur Appointed National Vice President
Shri Suresh Thakur, former Executive Director of the Woollen Council, has been appointed as National Vice President, HHEWA. His experience and expertise will further strengthen the Association’s national activities.
3. Shri Mahender Pradhan Appointed HHEWA Convener – Punjab & Haryana
Shri Mahender Pradhan, from Find Agencies, has been appointed as HHEWA Convener for Punjab & Haryana, with responsibility for strengthening the Association’s network and supporting exporters and industry members in the region.
4. HHEWA Mission – 16 September to 17 October 2026
HHEWA announced a special one-month mission from 16 September to 17 October 2026, beginning on the occasion of the Prime Minister’s Birthday.
The mission will focus on identifying and resolving key issues faced by the export industry, exporters, artisans and related stakeholders within a defined and limited timeframe.
The initiative aims to contribute towards the larger national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 by promoting exports, employment, entrepreneurship and sustainable growth.
5. Shri Vikas Bansal to Join National Board
It was also announced that Shri Vikas Bansal will join the HHEWA National Board, further strengthening the national leadership team.
6. Eastern UP Artisan & Micro Unit Chapter
Ms. Neha Vadera has been appointed as the Chapter Head for Eastern Uttar Pradesh – Artisan & Micro Units, with the responsibility of connecting and supporting artisans and micro enterprises across the region.
Review of HHEWA’s Achievements
During the meeting, the HHEWA team presented a detailed summary of the Association’s achievements, activities, initiatives and partnerships undertaken so far.
The team also briefed members on the MoUs signed by HHEWA and the progress made through these strategic collaborations for the promotion of exports and the development of the industry.
UPITS Participation
An invitation to participate in UPITS was extended to all 65 team members present at the meeting. Members were requested to download the UPITS App to make registration and participation easier and more convenient.
Financial Transparency
As part of HHEWA’s commitment to transparency and accountability, all relevant financial documents were presented and shown to the members during the meeting.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from the HHEWA team to work collectively for the welfare of exporters, artisans, manufacturers, MSMEs and the wider handicraft and handloom industry.
